Every Time I Close My Eyes

My head is playin’ tricks on me this mornin’,
Every day it plays the same old game.
It comes and goes without a moments warnin’,
I guess I’ve only got myself to blame.

Every Time I Close My Eyes I see her,
It don’t matter where I am she’s there.
I put my arms around her, try to squeeze her,
In an instant, she’s no longer there.

I know my baby won’t be back this evenin’,
She caught the Greyhound out of town at dawn.
She didn’t even have to say she’s leavin’,
The writin’s on the wall, and now she’s gone.

I look into the mirror and I’m crying’,
I never would have thought that I could do.
I tell myself I don’t care, bit I’m lyin’,
I’m shoutin’, "I don’t love her", but I do.
